This page tells you what every button on Shortszilla does. You do not need to know anything about video editing. Just read each part, then go try it. If you get stuck, come back here.
What does this tool make?
It makes a "Top 5" or "Top 10" video. This is a video that shows short clips one after another, with a number on each one (like #5, #4, #3, #2, #1). You have seen this kind of video before on TikTok or YouTube Shorts.
🦖 Go to the toolStep 1: Add Your Videos
Near the top, you will see boxes that say "Paste video link." This is where you put the videos you want to use.
- If your video is online (on TikTok, YouTube, Instagram, and other sites): copy the video's link and paste it in the box.
- If your video is on your phone or computer: click "...or upload a video file instead" and choose the file.
You can add up to 10 videos. Click "+ Add another clip" to add more boxes.
Step 2: Trim Your Clips (Optional)
Most videos have parts you don't want - like the beginning or the end. Trimming means cutting those parts out and keeping only the good part.
- Click the button that says "▶ Load preview & trim this clip."
- A small video player will appear. Watch it to find the best part.
- Drag the two sliders to mark where the good part starts and ends. Only what's between the sliders will be kept.
- Want to keep two or three different parts of the same clip (like 5 to 10 seconds, AND 20 to 25 seconds)? Click "+ Add another keep segment" to add more slider pairs. Everything in between the parts you keep gets removed automatically.
If you skip this step, the tool just uses the whole clip.
Step 3: Write Your Title
At the top of the page is a box called "Title." This is the big text people will see at the top of your video.
- Type your title in "Line 1" and "Line 2" - for example, "Ranking Funniest" and "Fishing Moments."
- To make a word a different color (like top channels do): highlight the word with your mouse (click and drag over it), then pick a color from the color box. You can give different words different colors.
- You can also change the font (the letter style) and the size of the title.
Look at the "Live Preview" phone picture next to the title box - it shows you exactly how your title will look.
Step 4: Set Up the Number and Word on Each Clip
Every clip gets a rank number (like #1, #2) and a short word next to it (like "PELICAN" or "GOAL"). To change how this looks for a clip, click "⚙ Number, animation, voiceover, sound effect" under that clip.
- Show keyword next to number: turn this on or off. If it's on and you don't type a word, the tool will pick one from your title automatically.
- Number position: choose which corner the number appears in.
- Number size: small, medium, or large.
- Entrance animation: makes the number fade in or slide in when the clip starts, instead of just appearing.
- Font, number color, word color: pick your own style for this clip.
Good to know: as your video plays, every number that has already appeared stays on the screen. So by the last clip, you'll see the whole list - #5, #4, #3, #2, #1 - all together.
Step 5: Add a Voice (Optional)
Want a computer voice to say something during a clip? Type your sentence into the box called "AI voiceover script." The tool will read it out loud in that clip, using a real computer voice - completely free.
Step 6: Add a Sound Effect (Optional)
Pick a sound from the "Sound effect" list, like a whoosh, a "ding," or a funny voice line like "Bruh." or "Oof!" It will play during that clip.
Step 7: Add a Filler Clip Between Ranks (Optional)
Want a short funny video to play right after one of your ranked clips (like a meme or a reaction)? Scroll down inside that clip's box to "Filler clip after this rank." Paste a link, or upload your own short video. You can even upload a separate voice recording to play during the filler clip.
Step 8: Choose Your Video Options
These are found in the "Video Options" box:
- Variations: how many different versions of the video to make at once (each one shuffles the clips differently).
- Outro text: a message shown at the very end, like "Follow for more!"
- Hook text: the words shown right before your #1 clip (default is "WAIT FOR IT..."). Type your own, or leave it blank to use the default.
- Countdown order: plays your clips from #5 down to #1, building excitement.
- "WAIT FOR IT" hook: turns the hook message on or off.
- Progress bar: a thin bar at the bottom that fills up as the video plays.
- Zoom effect: a subtle zoomed-in look for the whole video.
- Outro card: shows your outro message at the end.
- Crossfade between clips: clips smoothly fade into each other instead of cutting sharply.
Step 9: Click Generate
Once everything looks good, press the big yellow "Generate Ranking Video" button. A progress bar will show you how much is done and how much time is left. This can take anywhere from under a minute to a few minutes, depending on how many clips you added.
Step 10: Download Your Video
When it's done, your video (or videos, if you picked more than one variation) will appear on the screen. Press "Download" under any video to save it to your device. Videos stay available for up to 24 hours in case you need to come back for them.
⚠️ Important: don't refresh or close the page before your video is downloaded - refreshing clears the finished video from your screen and it cannot be recovered. Always download first, then refresh.
Step 11: Share and Rate (Optional)
Liked the tool? Press "Share Shortszilla with a friend" to tell someone else about it. You can also leave a real star rating - every rating shown on this site comes from an actual person, never made up.
